Inline Skate Repairs for Mechanically Challenged Skaters
Saturday December 8, 2007
Many inline skaters do their own inline skate maintenance and cleaning. But not everyone has the ability tackle skate repairs and upgrades – which are also an important part of safe inline skating. If you are new to the sport, not mechanically inclined or just want to save a little time by spending a little money, there are pro shops, rinks, skating centers and individuals (often coaches or instructors) who can take care of more advanced inline skate services that you may need, either now or later.
You will discover that some skate maintenance needs, like inspections and cleaning, are so simple, even a kid (overseen by a parent) can do them. Other things like replacing parts, removing stripped bolts or figuring out what's wrong with the way a boot fits may need professional help. Just remember that if you don't take care of your skates or get someone to do it for you, they can't take care of you.

There aren’t many skate shops i my area, however i have found that my local bicyle repar workshop can help with things (like stripped bolts) that are beyond my ability, and the means of my toolbox.
That’s a good idea, Dave. Many shops that repair small machines, bikes and cycles, scooters and carts or skateboards will have the tools and supplies needed to work on inline or quad skates.
