By July 28, 2008

Follow me on:

In 1995, Zach Phillips skated through the streets of San Francisco and discovered that kicking a pine cone on inlines was fun and a challenge. His game evolved into roller soccer as we know it today.

The RollerSoccer World Cup 2008 in San Francisco, USA is expected to be the biggest World Cup event in roller soccer history. The previous RollerSoccer World Cup in 2007 included thirteen teams representing four continents and nine countries. This will be the first time that the event will be hosted in North America. Countries to be represented include Belgium, Brazil, England,France, Germany, India, Italy, Netherlands, and the United States of America.

Host cities of the RSWC have been:
  • London, England in 2003 and 2004

  • Bremen, Germany in 2005

  • Nuernberg, Germany in 2006

  • Paris, France in 2007
This season's event is being held in San Francisco, USA at the Treasure Island YMCA on August 14,15,16 and 17. And the France-Marseille team will be here to defend their title!

Ancilliary events include an opening parade of teams, a party, a skate through the streets with the Friday Night Skate gang, live bands, exhibition matches and an after party event. There will also be roller basketball exhibition matches.
