The 2008 RAPS24KiKa Race for a Reason

By September 9, 2008

Follow me on:

The race named RAPS24KiKa has a story that goes with the event. RAPS24KiKa is a 24 hour race sponsored by the Dutch skate manufacturer, RAPS. In this event, teams of up to 6 skaters roll through as many laps as they can in 24 hours. What's more important is that the starting fees from this charity race are donated to support the KiKa Child Cancer Fund.

The 2008 RAPS24KiKa was held in the rain on Friday September 5th and Saturday September 6th on a 5k outdoor track called Flevonice in the Netherlands. There were 31 teams of skaters, including World and Olympic long track champion Rintje Ritsma. The participants were all working to earn a team ranking. But for some the real goal was finishing the event. Everyone's equipment and bodies took a beating, but Saturday afternoon brought clear skies, no accidents, the end of the race and a nice donation check for the representative of KiKa.
