I'm Thankful for Inline Roller Sports

Thursday December 25, 2008
We all have many important things in life to be thankful for like good health, safe haven and nurishing food. If you are on the inline skating site today, you're probably also glad to have access to inline roller sports and the wonderful friends, near and far, that go with them. Inline and roller skating offers many of us an extension of our basic needs by adding physical fitness, social and mental health benefits. For those who deal with the challenges of specific achievements or competition, skating fulfills the desire to achieve goals.

As a coach and guide, I'm especially grateful for my students and readers of all levels and ages, who love to feel the wind in their faces as much as I do. For each and every one of you - especially the one who wanted me to open up the rink on Christmas Day:

Merry Christmas to all and to all a great flight!

I am so grateful for roller sports that allow us to simulate the freedom of flight while earthbound. I have been roller skating on one type of skate or another since FDR was president and I hope to do it as long as there is breath in my body! I become a bird when I am skating, up above all the stress and the strife. I become part of nature and the cosmos and even gravity itself when I go downhill. Let us all be grateful for the invention of our wonderful sport, I guess we have the invention of the wheel to thank for it!
