May 31 to June 6, 2009 is Canadian Environment Week, a celebration of the positive environmental efforts of individuals, businesses and organizations in Canada. Canadian Environment Week is a good time for all communities to think about the effect we have on our environment. The Cornwall Carbon Reduction Initiative is the host agency for a 2009 Commuter Challenge, which is working to encourage citizens to try alternative transportation like inline skating, cycling, walking and public transit.
Participants in Canada can register online. The rest of us should join the celebration by skating to destinations near home this week and every week. After all, we will get a fair share of the benefits.
