We Are Our Own Skating Rainbow

Wednesday June 24, 2009
Everyone who loves skating is wondering what can be done to grow our inline and quad roller sports. Promotion and recruiting efforts are the most talked about subjects among coaches, officials, skaters and roller sports supporters. This article excerpt shows that Roadskater.net has given some thought to a solution that doesn't need an association or a governing body to bring it to life:

"...I was thinking the best way to grow the sport is not by winning competitions nobody sees except other skaters or their families, but by skating where people are walking their dogs, running, texting and walking and riding their bikes... and by just being nice, overly nice, whenever possible.
Yes, if inline skating makes the Olympics, that'll grow the sport, but that won't be me making it happen. This is what I or you can do to grow the sport. Represent it well, as often as you can..."

It seems to me that Roadskater has presented one simple solution that we could all take part in immediately to build our sport. We must become our own rainbow and show off the range of everyday uses and levels of activities that are the foundation of roller sports around the world.
