Two Ways to Skate on Dry Land
Thursday June 25, 2009
In ice skating dry land skating often refers to using inline skates as a substitute for ice skates for practice and training purposes whenever ice is not available. Dry land skating attempts were the beginning of inline skating.
The name dry land skating or dry land training is also used by some to describe off-skate exercises that an ice, roller or inline skater does without any skates on to build stamina, flexibility and strength. Many of these off-skate exercises or routines are done without extra equipment. But some may use things like slide boards, resistance bands, spinners or even carpet skates. Either way, off-skates, dry land or dry floor exercises try to simulate skating and develop skating techniques without the need to wear skates.
