The ready area is also a place where new friendships develop between skaters and coaches, and everyone is reminded of how much they have in common regardless of how many miles separate them or how different day-to-day life may be. New skaters are always surprised to hear the same words of wisdom coming from another coach from another region directed toward one of their skating peers. Coaches share chuckles and concerns as they echo each other's instructions.
This year's best peek has been the excitement among the Primary Boys Figure competitors, aged 6 to 8 years old, when they discovered that due to scratches, their event became a final, and they would only need to skate one time. The little rascals cheered because "this was the easiest way to get to finals ever." Hopefully some of this group of little boys will still be together to remember this moment when they qualify to skate World Class a decade from now. Join these boys and the other skaters at Nationals by watching USA Roller Sports events live.
