Swayze Got His Start On Wheels

By September 15, 2009

Follow me on:

Skatetown, USA co-starring Scott Baio, Maureen McCormick and Flip Wilson, marked the beginning of a successful 30-year acting career for Patrick Swayze. He was born on August 18, 1952 in Houston, Texas and passed away on September 14, 2009 after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. Swayze was the son of a choreographer, and dance and skating were both part of his youth. Patrick did all of his own skating in Skatetown USA.

(1) Jo Ann Schneider Farris says:

I was told tonight that Patrick Swayze was very embarrassed about this movie. He felt the quality of his skating was too low and made sure that copies of the film could not be obtained. Is this true?

I can’t confirm it, but he may have bought up the rights to the film to prevent further distribution.
