Jessica injured her back bone, and she wanted advice about returning to skating.
All I can say is that if you have experienced back pain or a back injury of any kind, you must see your primary care physician (and maybe a sports medicine consultant as well) before even remotely considering a return to skating. Be sure to let them know what kind of skating you do, the level you skate and how often you hope to do it.
As a coach/instructor, I always refer my skaters to medical specialists for these types of decisions, because without strong healthy backs, I won't have any strong skaters. The best advice is to seek professional medical advice.
