The Action Sports Association is an American non-profit organization developed to increase awareness, promote activities and provide information about the Action Sports Industry. The organization hopes to raise awareness at government, educational, corporate levels as well as increasing visibility with local community groups and individuals.
An important goal of the Action Sports Association is promoting the health, psychological, educational, environmental and social benefits for youth. The organization hopes that one of the benefits of an increased awareness of action sports will be acceptance of action sports into the mainstream of sports. ASA believes that if skateboarders, snowboarders, surfers, BMX bikers and inline skaters were viewed the same as soccer players, many doors could open in communities and in the youth sports marketplace.
- The ASA is constantly working on motivating people at the grassroots level to embrace Action Sports by promoting activities, educating, and preserving awareness of the Action Sports industry.
- They organize and lead projects ranging from the building of skateparks to working with the Boy Scouts of America so that young scouts can earn merit badges for their action sports activities.
- ASA has action sports programs outlined for the Boys and Girls Club Of America.
- There is also an Ultimate Boarder Championship one-week competition to find an athlete who can conquer the art of surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding. This event promotes healthy competition among youth.
The Action Sports Association is always looking for people who share a passion for their mission. ASA participants could make a difference in communities around the United States. If you would like to get involved, contact Liam Oliver at the Action Sports Association.
This group should not be confused with the ASA Entertainment Group, who continues to promote actions sports and athletes but no longer considers itself to be the official international federation for aggressive inline skating.
