What is a Resi Pit in Aggressive Vert Inline Skating?

By Carlesa Williams, About.com

Definition: The resi pit is a firm but resilient training surface used in more formal aggressive skating training to reduce landing injuries when learning extreme vert tricks. It is used in aggressive vert inline skating training and other extreme sports that have airborne stunts to help reduce injuries. Once comfortable landings are achieved on the resi pit, the skater can perform the trick with increased confidence and safety on the real surface. Usually, a foam pit is used as the first step in learning an aggressive trick.

The resi pit is a supplement to, not a replacement for, protective gear.
