Outdoor racing is the international standard for speed skating. Events are separated into road and track racing. The road race courses usually take the shape of an irregular closed loop with no bank on either side, or an actual stretch of closed road can be used. These courses require a skater to have a constant supply of power, with little if any opportunity to coast, so endurance is extremely important for successful racing. Track races, however, are on a closed, oval course usually measuring 200 meters and do provide banked sides. Regardless of age or gender, inline speed skaters share a determination to race as fast and as far as they can. The current world speed records as of January 28, 2012 are shown below for Men's Inline Road Speed Skating. The Women's Road Speed Skating Records, Men's Track Speed Skating Records and Women's Track Speed Skating Records are also very impressive. Inline Road Racing - Men's World Records
