Outdoor speed skating is the recognized international standard and is separated into road and track racing. Track races are skated on a closed, oval course that usually measures 200 meters and has banked sides. The United States' home track for outdoor speed skating is near the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This type of outdoor racing is done exclusively on inline skates.
Regardless of age or gender, inline speed skaters share a determination to race as fast and as far as they can. The current national speed records are shown below for outdoor track speed skating in the United States.
