In most inline, roller and even ice skating disciplines with figure skating or aggressive styled stunts and jumps, complete rotation is important for aerial maneuver scoring or ranking. Any jump during which the skater either begins or finishes the rotation of the jump on the skating surface by sliding the wheels, stepping out or stumbling on the surface instead of remaining in the air is considered a cheated jump. Without the slide or stumble, a skater will usually fall when landing with skates counter to their original direction of travel. Usually cheated jumps result in a deduction from the skater’s score, and often gets a deduction that is as much as or more than they would lose by falling on a completely rotated jump. This does not apply to partially rotated jumps that result in a fall.

A jump is not considered cheated if all rotation is executed in the air, with the first rotation starting after leaving the skating surface and the final rotation finishing before the landing.

Jump revolutions are measured in degrees of rotation regardless of the skating discipline. Rotation can go half way or completely around, but there are no quarter rotation increments in airborne skating stunts or figure skating jumps.
