What is the Ready Area at a Skating Competition?

By

Definition:

The ready area at any skating competition, skating event, performance, demonstration or show is a restricted area that is provided for athletes, coaches and skating officials only. This area is provided to facilitate preparation for an event and provide easy, organized access to the event surface or performance area.

The ready area also provides a secure area for final warm-up and stretching exercises, last-minute coaching tips, words of encouragement, skate adjustments, pinning on athlete identification numbers and of course, putting on and removing skates at venues that do not have locker room facilities near the skating surface.
