If you really love skating outdoors, you can take advantage of an occasional loophole in a delivery or messenger service job description and offer to perform your duties on inline skates.
A courier job that will allow you to wear skates may be difficult to find, but if you are lucky enough to find an opportunity, it could be a great way to make a little money. A newspaper or ad circular route in an inline-friendly neighborhood, small-town floral deliveries, a local messenger or personalized greetings service or a lunch delivery service in a small service area are examples of opportunities to let deliveries go inline. There may be more, but you will need to do your homework to either find them or create them.
Responsibilities for Skating Delivery Jobs
These jobs will definitely require you to skate well enough to manage an envelope, box, package, bag or even a backpack while skating. Here are some examples of the tasks required (beyond strong skating) for a messenger on skates:
Knowledge of local laws and ordinances for skaters is important.
Make sure you are familiar with the streets and geography of the service area.
Be aware of any animal or pet control issues in your service area.
Skating wardrobe May be needed for all types of weather.
You may need to provide customers with information about the product(s) you deliver.
Good basic communication skills are always important for customer contact jobs.
As with any customer contact job, you must remember that each customer is very valuable. Your delivery or messaging employer will appreciate the customers you will build and keep with this treatment.
