Green Inline Skates – Really!

Sunday June 21, 2009

Usually we think of inline skating as green and beneficial to the environment, because it is human-powered transportation – no fossil fuels are needed for skating. Now, there are skates help that help the environment in more ways than the traditional one.

The men's K2 Etu Eco and the women's K2 Maia are made using as many environmentally friendly materials as possible. The frames are carved out of bamboo, which is as strong as aluminum, but renewable and bio-degradable. Both skates feature the K2 Softboot design, but they're made from recycled Polyethylen-terephthalat (PET), which is also renewable. They come with 84mm wheels and ILQ-7 bearings to provide a strong durable skate that is really environmentally friendly.

Do you know of other skating products that have gone green? Do you know of other ways to skate green? Send your green gear recommendations and ideas, so other inline skaters can go green with you.
