Mobile Yoga uses the push and glide rhythm of inline skating along with the basic yoga principal of body and movement awareness to enhances skating technique, efficiency and performance, and provide an enjoyable skating experience. The Mobile Yoga Workout was founded and designed by Kris Fondran, a certified yoga and inline skate instructor, to combine the serenity of yoga with the cardiovascular and muscular benefits of inline skating into one workout.

After teaching yoga and inline skating as separate sports activities for more than 20 years, Kris began to see similarities and complementary attributes between the two disciplines and discovered that using yoga's body-awareness, breathing techniques and flexibility helped her students improve their skating technique and also raised their confidence levels. Inline skating brings a cardiovascular, muscular, and outdoor side to yoga activities.

Adding this combination of disciplines to regular workouts could work to relieve stress and improve overall health and well-being. As part of her masters degree studies in exercise science at Cleveland State University, Kris Fondran conducted a research study on the benefits of a ten minute, twice daily, Sun Salutation practice. After only six weeks of practice, participants showed a significant increase in upper body strength and hamstring flexibility.
