What is Active Brake Technology® on Rollerblade Inline Skates?

By , About.com Guide

Definition: Active Brake Technology® or ABT® is Rollerblade’s patented braking system. ABT® allows the brakes to be activated by simply sliding the braking foot forward. As the skater's foot moves forward, the calf presses back against the rear cuff to activate the brake arm. The brake comes down and stops the skater's movement with all eight wheels on the pavement, allowing more stablity and balance.
