Definition: The axle assembly on a pair of inline skates consists of a long bolt that fits inside the wheel spacer to hold the wheel in place with a fitted axle screw nut. This axle assembly also provides an axis for each wheel to rotate around. There are many axle replacement and axle upgrade kits available to provide faster wheel rotation, if your current system needs to be upgraded. These replacement kits consist of is two axle bolts per wheel and are made of aluminum or steel.
